Meet Dr. Kristy

BabyScientist Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Dr. Kristy L. McDowell, a dedicated scientist with a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology. Our mission is to spark curiosity and foster a lifelong love for science in children from kindergarten through 12th grade, especially those from socioeconomically disadvantaged communities.

We offer a dynamic, hands-on STEM education platform designed to make science fun, accessible, and inspiring. Through interactive experiments, real-world science applications, and direct engagement with STEM professionals, we aim to bridge the gap in science education and expand opportunities for underrepresented youth.

Our Mobile Laboratory brings the lab experience directly to schools, community centers, and events across multiple cities and states—breaking down barriers to access and reaching thousands of young minds. Students not only get to explore STEM topics up close, but they also meet diverse scientists and role models who reflect their own identities and backgrounds—helping them visualize themselves as future engineers, doctors, technologists, and innovators.

In addition to in-person learning, BabyScientists.org also offers virtual workshops, educator training, after-school programs, and community STEM events, building a strong support system around students, teachers, and families.

Our vision is to cultivate the next generation of problem-solvers, leaders, and changemakers in STEM—one experiment, one classroom, and one child at a time.
