Hello, my name is Shahd Elsheikh, and I am from Sudan. I am currently pursuing an Associate degree in Computer Science and hope to earn a Bachelor’s degree as well. My goal is to become a Software Engineer after completing my studies. I enjoy drawing and creating art. A fun fact about me is that I used to own a parrot that would meow.

Hi I’m Sofia, I’m from Bulgaria and I’m in my second semester of college. I’m studying communications hoping to go into law school. I was psychology club president for my first semester. I enjoy singing, playing guitar,and studying new languages.

Hello, my name is Alixandra Anderson, and I am from Jamaica. My major is health science and I hope to pursue my passion for helping people by becoming a nurse. I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts, and singing.

Hi, I’m Elda, an international student from Ethiopia and a sophomore majoring in Information Technology. I’m passionate about using my skills to contribute to the development of my home country in the future and anywhere I reside. Outside of academics, I enjoy learning tennis, going to the gym, and being more active. One of my defining traits is my perseverance—I’m always determined to overcome challenges and achieve my goals. A fun fact about me is that I was born and raised in South Africa, which has given me a unique perspective and appreciation for diverse cultures.

Hello my name is Isabella Zambrano. I recently graduated from NOVA with an associate degree in engineering and currently working to get my bachelors. An interesting thing about me is that I been doing multiple types of art since I can remember.

I'm an international student from Jamaica. I am currently studying Psychology at Randolph College and plan to develop a career in Forensic Psychology. Something fun about me is that I crochet and it's been almost 2 years since I started crocheting.

C. Thomas (they/their) is an award-winning poet and teaching artist from the DMV. They are full of life, full of energy, with a wonderful spirit. C. Thomas brings to us maturity and vast experience teaching and working with children in the community. One of their proudest moments came in 2015 when they were named as a pioneer of poetry by the National Underground Spoken Word Poetry Award (NUSPA). When not on stage, C. Thomas enjoys listening to music, spending quality time with friends, and with playing their lovable cat. In the near future, C. Thomas plans to establish an organization that uses art as a catalyst to begin healing from childhood trauma.

Jania Pullen (she/her) hails from the great state of Oklahoma. She is an intelligent and fun-loving young lady with an infectious smile. She enjoys singing, cooking, and playing the violin. She is entering her senior year in high school where she is taking on a leadership role in student government. Her future plans include attending an HBCU for college and majoring in Business/Marketing with a minor in Web design.

Alayah Martin (she/her) comes to us from Northern Virginia. “Lay” as we affectionately call her is a vibrant, smart, and outgoing young lady. She is Dr. Kristy’s A-1 intern! She is a first-year college student at Northern Virginia Community College majoring in Biology with the long term goal of becoming a Pediatrician. She is a phenomenal athlete who competed in competitive cheer for 10 years. She loves inspiring and working with our youth.

Alfredo Guardado (he/him) comes to us from Northern Virginia. He is a second year student at Northern Virginia Community College majoring in computer science. Alfredo is a highly intelligent individual with a calming yet fun spirit. In his spare time he loves working out and playing basketball. He loves the STEM field however, is undecided on his future career. He loves engaging and inspiring young students from our community.

Marcus Rahmaan (he/him) is a vivavious, outgoing, intelligent young man. He come to us from Northern Virginia. He is 15 years old and a sophomore in high school. Marcus loves football and is an avid reader. His favorite subject in school is science because he loves to investigate how things work. Marcus loves the STEM field and is considering a future career as a scientist! His future is bright!

Ariel Simpson-Bookal (she/her) comes to us from Fairfax, VA. She is a very intelligent, focused, and enjoyable young lady. Ariel is a freshman in high school who has a passion for teaching and engaging with young children. She is an active member of the Girl Scouts and has been for the past seven years. Ariel is an avid reader and has begun writing short stories to expand her repertoire of amazing skills. Ariel loves and excels in STEM, especially math. Her future is bright! She plans to attend college and obtain her bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Maxwell-Xavier Teclesenbet (he/him) is an inquisitive, fun-loving 12 year old young man from Maryland who will be entering the seventh grade. He enjoys playing hockey, riding his bike, swimming, and playing with his 4-year-old sister. Maxwell loves STEM and is interested in a career in mechanical engineering. His curiosity in this field started when his father allowed him to take apart a watch and to see its inner workings. His wonderful work with Babyscientist sparked an interest in biology thus causing him to change course to an interest in bioengineering! His future is bright! We Love it!

Artavia joins us from Norman, Ok. She is a smart and energetic young lady. She recently obtained her associates degree and will be attending the University of Oklahoma this Fall to obtain her bachelors in Social Work. Her future goals include obtaining her law degree in order to practice Family Law.

Isyss hails from Muskogee, Ok. She is an active and intelligent young lady. She is a honor roll student and this upcoming year will be a senior in high school . Her future goals include obtaining her bachelors in Biology and moving on to medical school to become a Pediatrician. She is also an awesome athlete playing basketball, fast-pitch softball, and track.
